Here for Nepean

Brian Double grew up in Nepean.  He moved to the Tanglewood neighbourhood when he was four years old. He attended Merivale Public School, Sir Winston Churchill Middle School, and then Merivale High School.  He met his wife, a life-long Barrhavenite, at Confederation High School.  They married at Arlington Woods Church.

Brian attended Carleton University where he studied genetics and microbiology.  After university, Brian moved to Barrhaven.  Although he considered a career in forensic science, he took a job with the federal government, where he has worked for the past 20 years.  This interesting and varied career has allowed him to inspect ocean vessels for pests, travel the world to negotiate international trade agreements, manage a social media team during a Federal election, and enable economic development benefiting  Indigenous communities.

Brian and his wife have three adult children, two dogs, and two cats.  Brian is a huge Star Wars nerd, plays guitar and sings, and can solve a Rubik’s cube in less than two minutes. If you were to check him out online, you’d see pictures of his dogs, hikes in the forest, and food.

Except for a year on student’s council more than 25 years ago, politics is new for Brian.  He is excited for this adventure.  He believes that his ability to negotiate and lead others to an agreement, his skill at resolving challenging problems, and his passion for public service will make him effective at representing Nepean at Queen’s Park.
